The season opener at Misano for Martin Plowman and Garage 59 led to some intense battles and great action during the main race, despite technical issues in the weekend. On the way to the grid for the qualifying race on Saturday, the #59 car, piloted by Plowman and teammate Craig Dolby, suffered a minor problem and had to be brought back to the pits for repair. The team and mechanics quickly fixed the car, but they missed the green flag and were 8 laps down with not enough time to make up ground. They took the checkered flag in P35.
In the main race on Sunday, Plowman took the green flag of the 60-minute race and flew through traffic, climbing the charts up to P24. Halfway through the race, he turned the car over to teammate Dolby, but the race simply wasn’t long enough to gain any further positions. The car finished P26 overall, showing Plowman, Dolby, and Garage 59’s ability to both overcome and overtake.
Plowman: “I have really enjoyed this first race with Garage 59. With not much time in the car before Misano, I felt that I learnt a lot about the car and felt more at home throughout the weekend. The team’s professionalism is exciting, and they really pulled through at the start of the qualifying race. This weekend showed we have the ability to make some great passes and move through the field. While the result wasn’t what we wanted, we have a lot to celebrate, as well as a lot to learn and use in the remaining races.”
