Martin Plowman has announced today that he is to share a UltraTek Racing Team RJN Nissan NISMO 370Z with TV star, Kelvin Fletcher as the pair make a challenge on the British GT4 Pro-Am title in 2018.
The former WEC Champion drove alongside businessman Richard Taffinder in 2017 as part of the long-term development plan to take Taffinder on the road to Le Mans. Plowman retains his responsibilities for the development of Taffinder’s racing career and will give the same level of support during race weekends.
The team’s decision to pair Fletcher with Plowman comes from a desire to raise the profile of the team and show the true potential of the Nissan NISMO 370Z.
Fletcher and Plowman have a strong friendship, not only have they driven together as teammates, but they have also formed a corporate entertainment business, Velocity Track Days which caters to high-end corporate clients and new-driver development.
Martin Plowman commented, “I’m genuinely excited for the year ahead. As long as we put the work in during the off-season, I know that we have every chance to fight for podiums or even wins this year. I’m grateful to Richard for giving me the opportunity to pair with Kelvin for this season. I think that we will make a formidable duo and I will do everything in my power to repay Richard’s belief in us to make UltraTek successful this year.”
Plowman continued, “Even though Richard has switched driving partners, I will still be responsible for coaching him during race-weekends and will continue to oversee his development away from the track. Richard and I have become great friends. I admire his drive, dedication, and passion to succeed. I do not doubt that he is going to achieve great things. I have set him some tough but achievable targets for this year, and I know he is hungry to deliver.”
“Last year RJN gave us a phenomenal car. With the same guys around us this year, I hope we can make another step forward and unlock even more potential from our NISMO 370z. We are all working hard to be at the sharp end of the grid and having the potential to earn some silverware.”
Plowman and Kelvin represent the driver line-up for UltraTek Racing Team RJN’s car 54, the lineup for the number 53 car will be announced in the coming weeks.
