Plowman and OAK Racing to Race in 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps

Martin Plowman and OAK Racing are set for this weekend’s 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. After placing fourth at the 6 Hours of Silverstone in Plowman’s home country of England, the team went back to the drawing board to review reliability issues the car struggled with, and Plowman headed back to the gym to stay in top shape.

Plowman said the team’s focus will be to manage the tires through two stints, as this was the challenge from the previous race. This weekend’s race is being labeled as “the dress rehearsal for Le Mans,” as it is the last race before the FIA-WEC heads to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

The weekend schedule is as follows, all times local (GMT +1):

Friday, May 3 – 0900-1100 Free Practice 1, 1430-1630 Free Practice 2, 1930-2000 Qualifying

Saturday, May 4 – 0900-0920 Warm up, 1430-2030 Race

The race will be live streamed at www.fia-wec.com.

Martin Plowman, driver: “I feel that the team is very optimistic about this weekend. Spa is a special track to come to race at. After Silverstone, we feel that we have a handle of the reliability issues that we had, and we also hope to show the full potential of the car’s performance, which we feel like we didn’t quite achieve. The most important thing will be to come away with another large haul of points, but hopefully that means being on the top step of the podium.”
