It was another fight to the finish for Conquest Endurance at the weekend’s Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge. Martin Plowman and teammate David Heinemeier Hansson both drove strong stints, with Plowman setting the fastest lap of the race in the P2 category of the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron. They finished in second place, picking up their sixth podium finish in as many races.
When the green flag flew, Heinemeier Hansson accelerated to take the lead after starting in second. It was the start the Conquest Endurance team needed, and he pushed his way through the field, increasing his lead over Level 5’s #055 car. Near the end of his stint, Heinemeier Hansson received a stop-and-go penalty which pushed the Conquest Endurance team back into second. Plowman took the wheel at 1-hour and 33-minutes into the 2-hour and 45-minute race. Once again, he found himself battling with Level 5’s #055 car, a familiar storyline this season. Plowman, unfortunately, got caught in traffic, which allowed Level 5 to pass him for the lead. He was in hot pursuit and gaining time over Level 5 – setting the fastest lap of the race – but simply ran out of time as the checked flag closed out his chase.
Plowman and Conquest Endurance will next compete in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on August 18th for the Road America Road Race Showcase.

“Obviously this was not the weekend we were hoping for but I think we can still take many positives out of it. We took the fight to level 5 again but came short in the end. It probably wasn’t the strongest track for our car but I know in the next few races the tracks will be more in our favor so im looking forward to getting our second win.
I was pushing really hard during the race and just never gave up. The team unfortunately got a penalty but we fought back and got very close. So now we go away and keep working hard and come back even stronger next time.”
